We have a public BETA RELEASE for our loyal users! Please keep in mind beta releases are work in progress and you’re bound to come across bugs.
Windows beta will be back up shortly, we have some problems with missing files for voice. It appears the wrong file was deleted.. instead of emkdu. Turns out the package uploaded was corrupt, if you had sound or missing voice issues in the windows beta you may need to download a new copy from here and re-install it.

Norton Suite doesn’t like these files (WS.Reputation.1) “Insight Network Threat”. The file risk is classified as medium.

For your information: Norton File Insight security identifies the latest Emerald release as a threat and removes it based on “Very few users” finding.

I have never been able to use an Emerald beta viewer successfully although I do try each one. Dilemma… a choice of 4 downloads, one I guess is 64 bit, so I don’t need that one. It is very early in the morning for me so perhaps I need a “hint” which to try for Windows?

For windows, Emerald_Viewer_1.5.0.2587.exe will work in any case, use the 64bit only if your windows is 64bit too. You can check that from your system properties.

Yay! installed the 64 bit version and I’ve not had problems rezzing my avi at all!! This was a serious issue I had with the last beta release so am very happy this is a non-issue now at least for me :)

Only problem I have is the typing animation won’t stop when I speak in local, even though it is unchecked (And debug is set to false).

I’ll be honest, I’ve been getting really turned off SL lately by all the drama lately. When I get emails from Linden Lab telling me that the viewer I use isn’t even officially permitted anymore, I just can’t be bothered to log in even. I use to log into SL to have fun and relax, but there is now more drama in SL than in RL. :/
I’m sure all the crap that LL has been given Emerald lately isn’t over yet too. I’m sure it’s just the beginning.

I always clean everything when installing or upgrading. I’m pretty sure emkdu.dll came with the package when it was first published.

I seem to feel as if the emerald developers have once again lied to us. in the interview with arabella and jessica on treettv and then later on arabellas personal blog we were told that fractured and modular systems would have no association with emerald. ye here it is emerald developers still use modular systems to spread emerald client. so which is it. is fractured and modular systems out or was it a lie to hide something yet again?

Damian I have stated in a number of forums that all emerald material is in the process of being transferred to our new website, http://www.emeraldviewer.net. alas this takes time when done by volunteers. However you can be assured there is no association with Modular systems and this transfer is taking place as fast as possible

Sorry, was a false alarm. I used the older 32 bit viewer. Thought it was already gone. My TV is full functioning again with the 1.5 Beta in 64bit on windows 7 64 bit

The actual message I get is: This program can only be installed on versions of windows designed for the following processor architectures x64 and the information about my processor is located on the wikepedia page, partiuclarly mine is the Brisbane model you find lower on the page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athlon_64_X2

One if you use Norton your computer is already infected with viruses and you don’t even know about it. Norton has a 50% success rate at detecting viruses. Oh and by the way Antivirus 2008,2009,2010 (same virus) looks for a flag from Norton. if anyone is wondering about how this little virus gets around. Norton sends a flag back to the servers that your Norton Antivirus is expired and thus you get tagged with Antivirus 20xx. (This little guy actually tells you to pay to remove a phony virus off your PC when the virus is the Antivirus its self.) Me personally I don’t trust Mcafee or Norton. Kaposki Is good antivirus to go with or if you want a free one Antivir. Another thing Safari Firefox best browsers to use. Don’t use IE unless you realy have to. Other than that Your pc should run fine and with out much viruses. If you run IE as your main browser make sure you have a heavy hitting
antivirus and not Norton or McAffee.

i use Norton Security suite AND PC Tools Spyware Doctor w/ Anti-virus and they never conflict. Only thing Norton miss that PC Tools doesn’t is cookies, especially flash cookies.

I had this same issue back when all the “drama” was goin on with Emerald. Have you tried a clean install? Get rid of anything Sl, or Emerald related then install. I feel your pain.. and SL V2 isnt worth the effort of loggin onto SL.. If you cant get Emerald to work try another viewer like imprudence. It was the closest to Emerald that i tried (outta 5 viewers) not includin V2. Nothin at all compares to emerald.. So GL with a clean install!

If you installed this to the same directory, you will have to manually remove the old emkdu.dll from it

Quit whining about anti-virus stuff. If the end user doesn’t know that norton is crap and how to identify false positives then that is an education for the end user to take upon themselves. The main issue IS…the downloads still do not work. The x64 version stops at 25.0MB and stalls saying the download cannot resume. Thus it is either corrupt or incomplete on the server. I can’t be bothered to verify which is the case as I am an end user and frankly am losing interest in emerald because of the fact that they just simply cannot get their sh*t straight..in any way shape or form. Bad information and bad binaries alike.

i have tried downloading the bata but it keeps crashing on me i downloaded the 64 exe can anyone tell em what to do next .
i;m trying to keep the 1636 to ,so i;m adding the bata to a diff area on my c drive ,if anyone can help me out would be grateful .
I am not that great with computers so would really be great

Things to do…
1st : Kick Norton, get some good anti-virus (AVG Free?) and why not a good firewall too (comodo is pretty good one), then you won’t complain about virus anymore.
2nd : Before install the new Emerald beta, unistall the previous Emerald, and make sure to clear out all about it… (cache and inventory cache too before uninstall). To make sure to remove all about Emerald, do a search on your computer with the key work “emerald”. And delete all data folders (you may want to use “Everthing” (http://www.voidtools.com/) as windows search is slow.
3rd : install the new Emerald and enjoy. :)

Cant Do Full Teleports what so ever on this version. but can on Emerald Viewer 1.4.0 (2439)

the viewer works fine for me in general and i’m very happy that it’s faster than 1636 and way faster than LLV2 for me.
A relative ‘minor’ issue that I have on viewers Emerald 1.5.0.2587 (and 2573) is, that i don’t seem to be able to get out of the ‘typing animation’
(ran for comparison viewer 1.23.5.1636 – no typing animation, unless i want it to be played)
tried AO ‘on’ and ‘off’ mode, detached AO, used different AO’s
debug settings are set to ‘playTypingAnimation’ FALSE
in preferences > Play typing animation when chatting is ‘NOT CHECKED’
reinstalled viewers and relogged/rebooted
used the AO ‘typing animation killer’ and ‘overriders’
And…
i’m still TYPING in chat!
Now, i love Emerald and i like very much that i can use alpha layers on the latest ‘beta’, so much so that, if the only alternative were to switch to LLV2.. i rather type :)

Norton doesnt like it at all, they say safe!!!!, but norton insight removes it! I just restored it. they will eventually get it together NEXT YEAR!

Fyi,
An clean install of the windows 32 version into an empty emerald viewer directory does not install the evil dll (smiles).
While not stated anywhere explicitly, this version is based on the SL viewer 1.x series of sources. This is not a viewer 2.yuk.

I would like to say something here about the Nortons. I have had it for years and it dose not block the Emerald!!!!! You most likely have a corrupted Nortons and need to uninstall the Nortons, after a clean uninstall, which means clean your registery too, then reinstall it. If that dose not work call the Nortons and they will help you fix it so it dose not happen again.

So far I’ve only had one real issue one crash but I think it had to do with the advanced graphics set too high,and I actually figured it would crash at a certain sim when I work (SL DJ) I’m using alot of resources as it is and it only crashed once.I just relogged and all was fine…maybe just an intial glitch.The other thing is the typing hand palm cupping,I unchecked,rechecking kill typing animation(hitting apply both times) but it still does that thing…kinda weird..but most times I would never see it.not that I look at myself that much..lol. One other thing a friend noticed is the color of my tag changing..I set it for red,but it changes from green to orange to red like when I change clothes.It looks great other than that,keep up the great work…and those Emerald “haters” well…let em lag in LL hell….rofl,I’ll take my Emey hands down everytime no matter what they say. ~X~
